RECRUITMENT FOR EXPANSION

The Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY at Stony Brook is continually expanding its faculty commensurate with the ongoing expansion of University Hospital. Surgical services have expanded such that the hospital will ultimately be staffing 22 operating rooms in the next five years. The freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Center has eight operating rooms and is currently caring for over 6,000 patients per year. The Heart Center opened its doors this year and the Cancer Center will open by the end of 2004. Groundbreaking is taking place in September for the Ambulatory Care Pavilion, which will also house the Pain Management Center and the Breast Center.

All of these facilities require anesthesiology faculty. Available are junior, middle level and senior appointments, Assistant to Associate Professor, depending upon qualifications. The department has particular interest in persons with experience in critical care, pediatric and ambulatory anesthesia.
