| June 26, 2001. Day the First, starts with a clean table at Flightcrafters. Russell and I have just lugged the Stage 1 kit from the Europa Office in Lakeland a few miles down US4 to the shop. | |||||||||
| These are the major foam contents from the "Accelerated" Stage One as out of the boxes from Europa. Counterclockwise from the bottom are the flaps, ailerons, flap fairings, rudder and trim tabs. These are all pre-skinned at the factory (actually a British subcontractor). Notice the fan - not only do you want a fan to blow the resin fumes and micro-dust out of your face, but today the shop is hovering about 88°F! | |||||||||
| All the hardware is bagged by type making inventory easy. The counts are exact, not a washer shy or spare! Even a couple of stippling brushes are provided. Here is a change in practice from the manual. The U.K. provides 5 brushes and expects you to clean them each day. In the US, these brushes are about $.30 each and Bob and Russell suggest I toss them as they get stiff (i.e., several a day!) Another stealthy change is that the UK kits use Ampreg 20 and the US kits use Aeropoxy resin systems. | |||||||||
